Special Character
Established 1945. Mission statement "In a caring and positive environment, Avondale College will provide an education which enables all students to achieve personal standards of excellence in academic work as well as in the supporting areas of physical, cultural and social development".

Location and Facilities
Situated in central West Auckland, the "City of Sails" of New Zealand, with a population of 1,000,000. Within easy reach of many beaches, international airport, etc. The climate is mild, with warm summers and cool winters. Facilities at Avondale College include seven sports fields, swimming pool and new sports complex on 4.24 hectares.

Academic Programme
Curriculum: Bursary subjects include Accounting, Art Practical, Art History, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Studies, Economics, English, French, Geography, Maori, History, Information Technology, Calculus, Statistics, Music, Physical Education, Spanish. Form 6 subjects additional to above: Computer Studies, Dance, Drama, Electronics, Home Economics, Horticulture, Journalism, Laboratory Technology, Legal Studies, Media Studies, Photography, Technical Drawing, Design Technology Wood, Design Technology Metal.

Extra Curricular Programme
We own and operate our own Outdoor Education Camp at National Park situated in the central North Island. Every fourth, sixth and seventh form student spends time at the camp, which accommodates 50 people in surroundings which include rafting, climbing, etc. We have several active cultural groups, one major musical show, four other drama productions, orchestra, big band, choral groups and other musical and dance groups.

Student Welfare
Guidance is offered to any student who has an educational, social or personal problem. Students are encouraged to consult a guidance counsellor if they feel there is any difficulty at school. The College has signed the New Zealand Education "Code of Ethics".

Accommodation
Homestay is arranged with New Zealand families living near the College. Students are met on arrival and transported to homestay. Weekly board (room, all meals, laundry) approximately NZ$180 weekly. Placement fee (once only) is NZ$160. Airport pick up fee NZ$50.

English Language Assistance
Special tuition in English is available. This is included in the annual tuition fee. Immersion courses and on-going support provided. Commence any time during the year.

Fees
2000 - NZ$8,700 including GST payable in advance. Students are required to have adequate medical/property insurance, which kiwi College can arrange.
