How to Use This ServiceThe following is a step-by-step procedure on how to use Kiwi College's non-profit Study and Homestay in New Zealand service. 1. If you are not familiar with New Zealand ,we suggest you first go to the About New Zealand and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) pages and follow the links. However, if you are familiar with the country and have an idea of what you are looking for, go to the Private Language Schools page if you are interested in improving your English, to the High Schools page if you are thinking of studying in high school, or to the Kiwi Careers page if you want to learn new skill sets for the 21st Century economy and society such as computers, finance and accounting etc. If you want an idea of what others have experienced as a result of their stays in New Zealand, as well as general up- to- date information on give-aways and what is happening with Kiwi College's programs, go to the Newsletter page in the navigation bar at the left of your screen and on to the latest newsletter or the Newsletter Archives. 2. If you are already familiar with New Zealand or have done the above, but want assistance in finding what you want, go to the Inquiries page, fill it in as completely as possible and press the Submit icon to send it to us. We will then get back to you with our recommendations and advice. 3. From our understanding of your information in the Inquiries page, we will get back to you with our recommendations and possibly send you some brochures on the schools/programs we think will satisfy you, along with information on where you can go to see videos on New Zealand, the schools listed and other materials on the same or related subjects. 4. When you have chosen the school/program you would like to study in, along with the length and timing of your expected stay in New Zealand for such study, fax or email us with the information, and we will check to see if the the school(s) in question have a place available for you at the time you want. If not, we will try your second and, if necessary, other choices. When we get a confirmation of the availability of the course that you want, we will send you a formal acceptance of your course from the New Zelaand school which will contain an exact quote in New Zealand dollars of how much all costs - tuition, homestay and other expenses -will be. Note: This is also a good time to fill in our Homestay/Accommodation requirements sheet (or the one included in the brochure of the school of your choice that we may have sent you) and fax it back to us. In doing so, try to give us as much information as you can about yourself, as it is very useful to the school in finding you accommodation/homestay that you will like. Doing this as soon as possible is very helpful, as it sometimes takes time to find what you want. Please note that any information you may provide is strictly confidential and will only be seen by our office staff and those of the school you want to go to. 5. If everything is acceptable to you, then the first thing you need to do is reserve a flight to New Zealand. This is very important as it can be very difficult getting flights during or near Japan's main holiday periods of O Shogatsu, Golden Week or the summer or school spring holidays. At such times, you normally have to book three months in advance - more for groups. When you have done this, let us know the flight information by fax or email, being sure to include flight numbers and days and times of departure from Japan and arrival in New Zealand. If you are a school or other group, this is doubly important. Also, if the school you are going to is not in or near the main arrival airports of Auckland or Christchurch, you will need to ask us about travel to it, and possibly ask your travel agent to reserve internal flights. 6. After receiving your travel and homestay/accommodation information, the school will then send us a formal letter giving details of your homestay/accommodation arrangements along with a proforma invoice which sets out clearly all study and accommodation costs in New Zealand dollars. After after checking it, we will send this on to you for your acceptance. You can check the cost in yen by going to and using the currency calculator on our website (at the bottom of the navigation bar to the left of your screen) or in the financial pages of your local newspaper. Adding this to the cost of your airfare will give you the cost of your New Zealand experience, minus spending money of course! 7. If everything is OK, take the above mentioned documents to a bank with a foreign exchange department and pay for your course by asking the staff to send the total costs of your course, accommodation etc. to the bank address and account number shown on -----. You do not pay anything to Kiwi College. In return, you will receive from the school a letter of confirmation of payment and welcoming you to their school. 8. Go to the airport and get on the correct plane. 9. Get off the plane in New Zealand where you will be met welcomed by a school representative and/or your homestay family who will take you either directly to the school or your homestay/accommodation. 10. Enjoy your Kiwi Experience!
